I’ve had an extremely busy last six weeks out and about with the jewellery. I started off with two Open Days at home, and invited everyone I could think of, and you came!! I then went on to The National Poultry Show in mid November, which was very successful and many of you were very appreciative of everything I was selling. After that I attended a Christmas Event organised by the National Trust at Stowe. I had my own little room to fill in the Parlour Rooms in an old pub, along with other traders. It was a great atmosphere and such a great idea. Different people are filling the available spaces for the six week run up to Christmas, which means that people visiting Stowe on a regular basis can just about wrap up their Christmas shopping. This coming weekend I am off to the Federation Show at Stafford with my Scots Dumpies and my stand, and that will be it for the festive period.
The big worry at the moment is the current bird flu epidemic in Europe. Defra have imposed restrictions in the UK meaning we all have to keep our poultry inside and away from wild birds. It is believed the annual autumn wild bird migration is responsible for the spread of bird flu, so we all have to do our bit to help curtail the spread. Fingers crossed we won’t get a UK outbreak in the middle of our peak showing season.
Plans for 2017 as far as Peck and Feather is concerned are in progress. I shall be attending two or three of the bigger outdoor events, along with Jamie Toms and Poultrytalk.com and the British Hen Welfare Trust, and more plans will be revealed early in the New Year.
A very big thank you to all my customers and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year.
