Chickens are Out!
The best thing to have happened in the last few weeks has been the release of free range poultry back on to the grass where they belong. After having been shut in and confined for 3 months, mine were delighted to be scratching about and enjoying the freedom again. The geese loved being outdoors splashing about in their water butts. We now have to keep our fingers crossed that there are no more outbreaks of Avian Flu and the summer agricultural shows will be back on the calendar.
After my trip to the Spring Fair at the NEC, quite a lot of new stock has been arriving. Some new items are already on the website and I would recommend the gorgeous sterling silver feather necklace and earrings. They are just fabulous and look brilliant with any outfit. I am hoping to be at Gardeners World Live 15-18 June along with poultrytalk.com and the British Hen Welfare Trust. We are very much hoping that as well as Peck and Feather and the educational talks, we will be able to have a display of birds and the usual chicks, which are so popular with the children (and parents!). This will depend on the next notice from DEFRA about shows and other bird gatherings, but we’ve all got our fingers tightly crossed.
I shall be at Blackthorn Nursery, Wing Road, Stewkley at their Spring Open Day on Sunday 28th May. This a great day out and Cathy will have some fab plants, and other stalls selling unique and interesting gifts.
I’m off on a bit of a holiday shortly, but will be back very soon with more news and updates.
