July has been a very busy month, not least because I have been thinking of new jewellery designs and sourcing new gift ideas for Christmas. My brand new little chick stud earrings are now on the website and are proving very popular. Next week I am off to Countryfile Live to join Jamie Toms of Poultry Talk. We have four days in the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace where we are part of Adam Henson’s Farm with a big display of poultry. We have been supported by Interhatch, Dengie, Allen & Page, Unipet and the British Hen Welfare Trust. There will be something for everyone in our marquee, with not only lots of different breeds of poultry to look at, but egg decorating for the children, chicks to cuddle, and while all that is going on the adults can come and look at my stand, and even start their Christmas shopping!
As a result of my involvement with Gardeners World Live and Countryfile I have hatched out quite a lot of chicks this year. The Scots Dumpies are looking promising, so let us hope that the Winter shows go ahead this year, and we do not have a repeat of the Avian Influenza outbreaks which affected so many poultry outings last year.
I have quite a few events coming up, so please look at the Events section on my website to see where you can find me, and if there is something special you want then let me know and I can make sure I bring it with me.
We have a new Bouvier des Flandres puppy, who finds the chickens fascinating – rule No 1 – no chasing. This is proving quite a challenge!
I will be in touch again very soon with an update on Countryfile and some pictures. I hope the sun shines on the many thousands of visitors next week.
